Cookie Day!

Today is Cookie Day for Girl Guides of Canada here in Port aux Basques. We arrived at the school at 10:00 am this morning, picked up our box of Cookies and headed out. A little rain but that didn't stop us. We sold our 12 boxes after knocking on about 25 doors or so. But it was fun! It brought me right back to the days of selling cookies as a child in Brownies and Girl Guides. Ocieanna was the perfect little spark! Dressed up in her fall pink jacket with her spark scarf. She knocked on each door but then quickly stood up next to me and waited for me to do the talking. But that was ok...what more would you really expect from a 5 year old. I did manage to get her to sell cookies at the houses that we knew. She loved doing that! She even got 2 tips! Here's a few shots of my beautiful girl out today!

Boo!

Wow! Has it been a year since last halloween! Isn't it hard to believe how fast this year went. Halloween came upon us so fast we hardly had time to prepare! But we did it! And all in good time. Cecil and I went to the annual Port Club party saturday night and today sunday the kids got to go to the annual Marine Atlantic Kids party. We all had a great time!

The party at the Port Club last night was a blast. Cecil spent the entire night chasing me around...why you ask? This is why! I was the Little Red Riding Hood and he was the Big Bad Wolf. Both costumes were hand made by myself and Cecil. We didn't win but we did get an honorable mention at the Port Club and were given two free t-shirts! It was all in good fun!

And then there couldn't be a party for Mommy and Daddy without a party for the three greatest kids! It was the annual company kids party which included an hour and a half of bowling and then followed by a pizza party with treats and free t-shirts! They had a wonderful time!

Here's their costumes!
Jadian Batman, Ocieanna the Fairy Mermaid and Kadyn Little Batman.

We'll be carving the pumpkin today and just waiting now until tuesday when we can all go out trick or treating! We can't wait!!!

School Photos

Oh I'm so anal about school photos. I've always had such bad experiences with both my and Jadian's school photos in the past. So I now follow my kids to school and stand up next to the photographer and watch until I see the photo on the screen and let them know that it's ok or a no go. But this year as soon as I seen the photos on the screen of the photographers laptop I said "omg they're beautiful". And then today...what a surprise, I received them in their bookbags. As beautiful or more than what I seen on his screen. They were just perfect. I wish my brother were here so I could call him up and tell him how wonderful they were and that they were in the mail on the way to him. But i'm sure that he sees them and is so proud to be their uncle.

Here are my georgeous babes!

Jadian Grade 2 Age 7

Ocieanna Grade Kindergarten Age 5

Today we also registered Jadian for Hockey. This will be his first year. He's so excited. It's 3 days a week...eek. How do parents do this? We also got an email from Ocieanna's skating and she starts the same time as Jadian and registers next week. Jadian will have skating on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday and Ocieanna will have skating on Monday/Wednesday. Yikes! It's a going to be a big adjustment for us all but they are just so excited to be getting back to the stadium. Last year Kadyn wasn't mobile...we'll see how it turns out. Hopefully he'll stay put for us...haha...yeah right!

School's In!

They're off! Jadian started grade 2 on Tuesday and Ocieanna started Kindergarten today Wednesday. Wow...my two babies are growing up so fast! They were both excited to get on the bus this morning...no way could I talk them into me driving them in.

Jadian's first day began at 12:45 on Tuesday. He was so excited to go. Got his hair ready, brushed his teeth and put on his new clothes. His school bag smelling of new pencils and erasers. He was well prepared. Here he is on his way that day!

Ocieanna, my baby girl, all grown up. Look at you off on your very first day of Kindergarten. I'm so proud of you. She was so excited. Almost couldn't get to sleep last night. With her dora back pack and lunch can off she went.

Touring the town! Vacationing in St.John's Newfoundland.

That's it...summer has finally ended for us. We decided to make the best of it and head down to our favourite part of Newfoundland, St.John's. What a faboulous trip we had.

We took off on Friday morning the 1st of September to head to the big city. A fun 9 hour trip with three kids squeezed into the back of our little Pontiac Wave. But it really was a good trip. The kids did very well, even little Kadyn. We arrived in the town of Mount Pearl around 7ish to our friend Charmaine's home and stayed for the night. Her and her family welcomed us in with open arms. Thank you so much Charmaine!

Saturday afternoon we met with a couple friends for lunch at Mexicali Rosa's on George St. Charmaine and I had a wonderful lunch and chat with Peggy and Valerie from our scrapbooking online board. http://www.mexicalirosas.com

That evening Cecil and I took the kids to the Fluvarium. http://www.thefluvarium.caw.thefluvarium.ca
They were so excited to see the fossils, frogs and the underwater streams with the few salmon that we got to see. Here are some photos from that day.

Saturday night we did a little shopping and had supper at Pizza Experts. Saturday night my friend Sherri's Mom came over with the kids to the hotel so that we could head down to George St. for a few sociables...yeah, that's it...sociables. 4:30 am later and we found our way home! Thanks so much to Judy for taking such great care of our kids while we were out! We love you Judy!

Sunday Cecil got up and took the kids out while Kadyn and I had a late morning nap. He took the kids on a scenic tour of downtown, to visit the CBC satelite(hehe) and to a little fair where they took in some rides. They had a great time.

1:30 or so we headed out to lunch and then started our day. We first went and finished up some shopping we had left to do and then we headed to the avalon mall to see Barnyard. The theater was amazing...not like it was in 1998 when I was there last! Wow! Has it ever grown! The kids were absolutely fascinated by it. As was I! Here they are in a prop set up for Pirates of the Carabean.

After the movie we headed off to Bowring Park for old times sake. I once lived on Waterford Bridge Road and would go for a walk there almost every day. And this is where we took Jadianfor a day out when he was at the Janeway 2 years ago.

And our final stop of the day on Sunday was Cabot Tower of course. Who could go to St.John's and not stop at Cabot tower! The kids loved it! We've decided that on our next adventure to St.John's, in two years that we'd do the walking trail as the kids will all be old enough by then. I can't wait!

Monday Morning...time to go. Sadly we got up and got ready to leave this beautiful City. Absolutely amazing trip we had. We stopped into McDonalds for one last Yummy breakfast and then realizing that we forgot a bag at my friends house we returned back to Forest Road and said our final goodbyes. Forest Road you know is right next to downtown. So of course we had to go on an adventure to find the Mermaids! Absolutely beautiful! We were definately enchanted by the mermaids!

Good bye St.John's! We'll be back!!!

Summer's coming to an end...

Omg where has the summer gone? hmm...I know, I and Cecil have worked most of it. There are so many regrets but hey...don't bother living your life with regrets. Just live for the present. So we've decided to take a trip to St.John's the first week of September just to end off the summer before the Kids...(I said Kids! My baby girl starts school this year) go back to school! We'll hit some parks, hopefully water parks for our little water dogs. And I'm thinking of a museum and of course Signal Hill for some photos. We told the kids today and they're excited. Well really...they're not. They're more excited to go to Thomas Amusements today. This should be interesting, Cecil's at work, i'm off to stuff a chicken and then take 3 kids to Thomas Amusements.

But our summer was still fun none the less. We had two weddings. My best Friend Nancy and our other good friend Candace got married two weeks apart. Here's our girl, to the left smiling pretty for the camera. She was the perfect little flower girl for Nancy's Wedding.

I went on a personal mini vacation this summer. I attended what we like to call HIH... A scrapbooking meeting with a bunch of beautiful and wonderful online lady friends who share the wonderful interest of scrapbooking with me. I went off on a 5 day all inclusive scrapbooking adventure to Rose and Lori's house! :) It was wonderful. 5 days filled with shopping, scrapbooking and most importantly great friends(and a pool..haha). Here we are...giddy after a lovely crop trip to Cutting Garden in Halifax.

And speaking of scrapbooking...on this wonderful trip I completed 36 layouts, 2 cards, and 2 altered items. It was such a productive weekend.

My latest scrapbooking adventure...the only one of August was a sketch in the Basic Grey newsletter. I tried out hand stitching in this one. Fun..but very time consuming. It would have been much faster on the sewing machine. Will have to try that next time! :)

May 9, 2006

Well after a long exhausting weekend we're finally home and settled in. We had an exciting weekend that's for sure. Not an uncommon thing in the Blackmore house to plan a LAST minuite excursion to Nova Scotia. Saturday morning we got up and got ready for the 11:30 am ferry to head to North Sydney to surprise my mom with an early mothers day present. An altered canvas I made for her with a photo of the kids in PEI last summer in pederioc clothes. It turned out great. I'll post a pic as soon as I remember to take one of it. Anyway we got to where my mom works and lo and behold she's not there. They're out for the day. So we take advantage of the free time, poke the present into the mail box and go off shopping for a few hours in Sydney. While we were about to head back, stopped in to get some gas and Mom calls us on the Cell. She asks where we are and I say Corner Brook as to not ruin the surprise and tell her that a friend at M.A had dropped off the present into the mail box for me. hehe...I think she was on to us! And sure enough she was. The kids knocked on her door and she ran up and said I knew you were here. But it was still fun! We then took a hotel at the Clansmen for the night. Don't think we'd stay there anymore...it just wasn't up to par for me. We did however have a nice night, had a few beer, watched a few shows and played some cards. I won of course! haha! Sunday we stopped in McDonalds for Breakfast and then went to a few yard sales. Found some great deals! Some new lawn chairs for $2 each and a nice photo album. The kids even found something, a wonderful basket full of activity books, crayons, dolls and water squirters. And of course the big Kid, Cecil even found some movies that he "always wanted". Then we headed downtown and some guy almost ran into us, cut us off and threw some foul language our way...which of course we threw some right back...just a little more than he could have wanted. Then the car started acting funny and Cecil said that's surely not right. Then on came the check engine light. We pulled into Ron May Pontiac and there was nothing anyone could do for us as it was sunday and everything was shut down. What a pain in the A$$! But they said they were 99% sure that our hotel would be covered for the night and up to $500 of food coverage because we were so far from home. We went back to my mom's and spent a little time there, washed our clothes as we were only packed for one night and then went out to buy pampers and then headed to The North Star Inn....ahhh....nice hotel. Much better! We had a great night's sleep and got up early and headed back to the car dealership. Turns out the Fuel injectors, on our 3 week old car were gone. So they set us up with a rent a car and we headed on the 11:30 ferry back home. I'm not really impressed with the car...it consumes 2 times as much fuel as our car would have and it has only have the space. I sure hope they accomodate us for this when it's all said and done.

Anyway back to today! We spent the whole day outside. I raked the yard, dug some sawd up and filled in a few holes nad the kids played around me. They loved that! We even took a little walk up the road. Didn't get very far...as that first hill leaving our home is just enough to give me a mild heart attack i'm sure. It's hard pushing a 1 year old and a 4 year old. Cecil got home after school and had to head to St.Davids to fix a satellite. When he got home we had some supper and came back outside and tore up the rose bushes. What a pain they're being already. We got them all cut off...now I guess we'll have to dig them up. No fun but it has to be done! Time for bed now for the kiddies...I'd better get going! Have a great day!
